Morkva Story

This is a story of a journey.

Behind this craft is a family studio in Lviv: Rostyslav and Olena, their young son Lev and their cat Dzyha. Together, they created Morkva, an intimate, artisan workshop where every piece carries their patience, creativity, and love for Ukrainian craft.

But the story of each piece begins long before it reaches their hands. The clay starts its journey in Slovyansk, a city in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. From there, it travels more than 700 miles across the country to the family’s workshop, where it is welcomed, softened, and brought to life.

Guided by the rich Ukrainian soil that formed it, the artisans transform this humble clay into whimsical treasures inspired by gardens, fields, and the gentle countryside. Once the forms are ready, the journey continues: the ceramics meet German and Italian glazes, then pigments from Ukraine and Italy, each material adding its own tone, depth, and character.

Made slowly and in small batches, no two pieces are ever quite the same: each one carries subtle differences, small marks of the hands that created it.

Through this long journey, from eastern earth to a family studio in the west, from raw clay to finished form  colour, craft, and resilience come together. Welcome one of these pieces into your home, and the whole story comes with it.
